Homemade Gift: Face Planter

final 1

Another last minute holiday post coming at you from Oldest.
L has some amazing teachers which deserve a little something special this time of year. When I saw these planters on La La Lovely Things I knew they would be perfect!

To get started you will need a coffee cup (I used a cappuccino mug), a succulent plant and black and pink permanent markers. Now let’s begin: Make sure the mugs are clean, then draw on your preferred design with the markers. Place the cups on a baking sheet and put in the oven. Turn the oven to 350F. Once the temperature is reached set a timer for 30 minutes. After this time, turn off the oven and let the cups cool to touch. Remove from the oven and add the succulents.

You don’t need to bake the cups if you do not plan on washing them, but I liked the idea that the teachers could enjoy these even if they don’t have a green thumb.

And that’s all there is to it! A unique gift made in less than an hour and only cost me $6 each ($3 for cup, $3 for the plant, $0 markers as we already had them). I sure hope these little cuties will bring a smile to the faces of L’s teachers. They deserve it.
